Tess and Jon have lived and worked around the world but always knew they would come back to France (where they met) and Poitou-Charentes in particular, and have managed to find their dream home in Canteau. In education for many years, they are great art-lovers – both artists, writers, musicians and are always ready to offer a warm welcome to all in the hope that the place will inspire and delight.
It’s idyllic! An absolute haven of peace and tranquility. It would be a great place for a family or a group of families or friends to stay – there are places in the house and grounds where you can enjoy each other’s company, but also plenty of space where you can enjoy time alone. The pool is fabulous and I spent many happy hours sitting under the trees reading and chilling. Great for walking and cycling (if you are quite fit for the latter, to get up the first hill!!). You’ll need a car to go shopping but there are good supermarkets within a short drive. I also liked the town of Melle (very close) with its quirky cafes. There was a jazz festival while I was there, which was great fun. All in all, a great time.Mary Ragan
